This is not an actual event, but a call to action to assist the WNIA to raise funds to battle things such as Zoning Appeals, etc. when we actually have a case. The recent Zoning Appeal, unlike the one just past, has some concerns we will be addressing with legal action. It costs a consultation fee as well as a transcription fee from the hearing just to begin the actual legal evaluation as to whether or not we have a viable case with which to proceed. We will be working with the Community Law Center which does pro bono work, however, there are costs to cover regardless and, needless to say, those are our responsibility. We can expect this court case to cost us between $400-$600 (hopefully not more, but it is possible) in associated fees.
Hence, it seems only prudent to form a Legal Defense Fund so that the organization has resources with which to work in everyone's best interests. There will, we are certain, be more than one cause for legal actions in the future and it behooves us to be prepared.
While a $30 Donation is by no means the largest that cold be given, and nor is it the least we would gratefully accept (would you give even $10.00 to fight for the property value of your home?) I have chosen it as the benchmark donation amount that I associate with this "Calendar Event". And, of course, once the drive for this fund is over, we'll continue to accept your generous donations.
Our $10 annual dues don't even cover our expenses. We have not had an active membership who spent capital in some years, therefore, there are some current resources supplemented by grants. We are now active and doing much more --- funds will exhaust frighteningly fast. Please give... when you give to your community association, you are investing in yourself.
You may donate right here online by RSVPing "yes" to this event (although there's no actual event) and using your credit card --- or you may mail a donation to the address shown as the "Event Location". Or, donate at a meeting!
Thank you in advance everyone!
