Re: [WNIA] Anyone know when our streets will be plowed? Angela... It would be great if you followed up with Robert Curran to see what his take on snowplowing is. It’s awesome to hear your neighbors worked together... Ours did, too. Feel free to call Curran... No one resident is more important that another --- the more constituents he hears from in Westfield, the more active he will think this area is. (And that will be the truth!) He should hear from more than just me and the Board members.

Secondary residential streets are, indeed, last on the list. I doubt they really out specific areas last, other than to maybe say neighborhoods near city center might get a little faster service for reasons of commerce.

At the end of Christopher, my husband and I and a few people from the apt building across from us dug up half of our street and found an entrepreneurial neighbor with a snow blower to complete the job after we ran out of steam (he made $50 for 15 minutes of work - if we keep getting weather like this, those snowblowers are a good investment!). We called 311 to put our street on the list, and were told that our neighbors had already called. "Eventually" it would be plowed. ... the intersection of Eunice and Christopher is still unplowed, but at least we can all get our cars out now.  All of the streets near us were cleared by the residents themselves.  From what I can tell, there hasn't been a city plow in this area.

Maybe the neighborhood association leadership could address this issue with city council.  It would be interesting to find out if we really are at the bottom of the list, or if what we experienced is typical.

Although I have only lived in Westfield for two years I  have never seen a plow during a snow event.  In speaking to my  neighbors (some of whom have lived here for decades) I get the  impression that these side streets are not plowed (maybe they're too  narrow and many of them have parking on both sides?)  In these last  two snowstorms my street (Louise between Harford and Old Harford) got  cleared only because a bunch of us got out there with snow shovels and  cleared it by hand.  Have you tried calling 311 and requesting a  plow?

I have not been able to leave the house since last Friday. Only  large trucks and 4-wheel drive vehicles have been able to get down  Sefton (between Glenmore and Westfield) and as a result I'm stuck. I  can only work from home for so long and I really don't want to take  the bus because I'm uncomfortable carrying my government-issued laptop  on public transportation. I really need to let the office know today  so any information would be  appreciated.
